MFT RADIO

Beginning in 2019, Musical Family Tree has hosted an hour of local music on 99.1 WQRT FM LP in conjunction with Big Car Arts Collective. Airing weekly, Thursdays at 7pm and Saturday at 11am, we use the airtime to feature Indiana artists, and discuss our music scene throughout the year. Check out the show and our archive of episodes! IN Covers is a program designed to instill pride in Indiana music and create meaningful work for local musicians. Released regularly on our archive and blog, IN Covers feature Indiana musicians celebrating our great state’s music by covering another Hoosier band or artist of their choice. With nearly 4,000 listens and downloads, these projects push participating musicians’ creative boundaries and help music lovers discover great new IN music. AND, MFT pays for the recording at no cost to the band!

Interested in recording an IN Cover? Email us at team@musicalfamilytree.org and include your band’s press kit and/or website, links to your social media pages and the names of your band members. Additionally, please include the track you would like to cover along with a short paragraph describing why you’d like to cover that band. All bands participating must also have their music on the MFT archive. Check out our IN Covers collection here!

Part of MFT’s mission is to provide opportunities for local artists that foster creative freedom, and no program does this better than EP in a Weekend. EPiW brings together two to four Indiana musicians who have never played together and has them write an EP. MFT then pays a recording engineer to record it - all in just three days! These collaborations have ranged from contemporary percussion duos to hip-hop supergroups to fuzzy garage rock, all resulting in amazing stories and one-of-a-kind EP recordings.

If you would like to be a part of creating an EP in a Weekend, please email programs@musicalfamilytree.com and include your press kit and/or website, links to your social media pages and the name(s) of all the band members. Additionally, please include a short paragraph describing what interests you about this program and what you would hope to gain from the experience. All bands participating must also have their music on the MFT archive Check out our past EP In A Weekend projects!.
