CHECK OUT THESE GREAT ARTISTS WHO PERFORMED IN April!

Pernell From Pike

Indianapolis artist Pernell from Pike (also know as Theon Lee) is a talented lyracist, singer, and musician. He performs hip hop, poetry, spoken word, and he performs in local band Clint Breeze and The Groove. At his Circle Centre Series performance, he did 2 solo sets some pieces were more of a folk feel and he sang and played guitar while others were more rhythmic vocal only or poetry. Pernell is an artist who relates with audiences by telling stories and often his art is about the place where he’s at and the things that are happening here (in Indianapolis). He goes with the flow but also has a direct and real perspective to share through his words. Take a listen to his livestream, listen online to his work, and check out one of his future live performances.

Roger Bash

Roger Bash attended the IU school of music and has pursued his love of playing guitar. He lives in Indy for part of the year and in Florida other parts of the year but he also spends some time on the road. One of his past IU music professors even stopped in at the Circle Centre Mall towards the beginning of his performance to say “hello” and encourage his performance! Roger is a singer-songwriter who combines multiple genres into a rousing one-of-a-kind folk and roots-rock experience. He was enthusiastic about this opportunity to share so much of his original music. He used a loop machine in some of his songs to keep a rhythm going and build upon his sound to make it even bigger. He had a lot of energy and was excited to play at the Circle Centre Series. Several of his fans and follower as well as mall passers by sat to listen to his performance. Take a listen to his livestream!

Hickey-Shanafelt 9ollective

When the Hickey-Shanafelt 9olective came to play at the Circle Centre Series, there was a bit more set up than usual. Wow - 9 musicians all playing horns and original contemporary jazz music! The group is composed of established local professionals and young, up-and-coming musicians as well as emerging and professional composers. They really have something special to offer and their fun, energetic, and jazzy sounds attracted folks to come listen. It was a great performance and also the largest group that has performed at our series to date. Check out their debut album “illuminate” on Bandcamp and listen to the livestream (part 1 and part 2 links below).
