Hailing from the Midwest, Lafcadio is like an onslaught out of nowhere. Historically, we see that the most violent and revolutionary groups come out of the shittiest geographical regions. From Genghis Khans golden horde sweeping down from the barren plains, to the Israelite Host marching up out of the desert, it's obvious that the most fucked-up people come from the most fucked-up places.

So: Lafcadio's lead-singer was born with Tourettes Syndrome. The reason we bring this up in the band bio? I think its an important clue to the bands philosophy and their sound. It seems to be poetically apropos to their jaunty aesthetic. An analogy might be sketched between the convulsions of savagery and delirium which punctuate the otherwise elegantly constructed progressions of their songs and the disruptive jangling and cognitive interference which is woven into the singers neuro-chemical make-up. Lafcadio is a band growing out of metals deep-rooted traditions of darkness, noise, and riffage, but theyre always somewhere on the outer edge of ritual and convention; pointing towards new territories beyond the periphery, and penetrating the internal anarchy that's fuelled the metal movement since its moment of genesis. They deliver their songs with a brutal elegance, but they dont shy away from manic absurdity and the clownish aspect of doom.
